The Sports, Technology, Arts, Recreation, & Skills Program (STARS), will promote community inclusion by increasing access to extracurricular programs throughout the Brazos Valley for children in foster care. We hope to be able to launch this program in 2021 and are currently working to negotiate lower tuition and dues across 6 categories of extracurricular activities. Additionally, we are applying for community, state, and federal grants which would allow foster parents to apply for scholarship funds to further reduce costs associated with participation in these activities for children who would otherwise have no access, further marginalizing these at-risk youth. These are need based scholarships which are capped at $250 per year.
